Week 3 Soap Challenge- Piping Cold Process Soap

Week 3 challenge consisted of piping cold processed soap. I went outside my box again and decided that it was about time to make a soap cake. I have piped soap cupcakes before, but there is nothing like decorating a whole cake. I started with a 7 essential oil blend along with patchouli FO. I am happy that I did this and can't wait to try another one.

Week 2 Soap Challenge- Amish Friendship Bread Buttermilk Soap

This is week 2 of Amy's (Great Cakes Soapworks) soap challenge. This week we were tasked with making a milk soap. Once again, I never made this type of soap, although it WAS on my list of things that I wanted to try. I decided to try a buttermilk soap, since this ingredient was readily available in the grocery store. This is actually the second one that I made this week. I started with a oatmeal, buttermilk, and honey with no other scent. I was eager to try one with a great scent so I made another batch and this one is the same along with NG's Amish Friendship Bread FO. It has ground up toasted oatmeal incorporated throughout the soap along with honey. I added some sprinkles of brown sugar and oatmeal pieces on top. It smells heavenly, and cannot wait to try it. Thanks Amy for getting me out of my comfort zone. There is no turning back now..lol

Soaping challenge- week 1- In the pot swirl

This is part of a continuing challenge for soap makers across the globe. These wonderful challenge were the brainstorm of Amy Warden of Great Cakes Soapworks. This gives soapers a challenge and it encouraged me to try something that I have never tried before and that is an "in the pot swirl." I have always wanted to try this but something else would come up. Well, I accepted the challenge and tried it last evening. I started with the "Beach Bum" scent from Nature's Garden. Since this was my first attempt at this soaping method, I didn't want that many colors. I started with separating two colors and with a base that was colored with Titanium Dioxide (which as you can tell by the photos, it could have been mixed better, lol). I then chose a green and blue for my swirls. Thanks Amy for this brilliant idea that you came up with.

Could of used a better mixing job. Specks of TD. Still I like the effect of the swirls.

Since it is a beach bum scent, these remind me of crashing waves with jojoba beads displaying a spray.
